I have been thinking about this so much the last few years. Not only have I had a bazillion years in a row of chronic stress, but I grew up on a farm, expected to work since I was barely a teen. On a farm there are no sick days, definitely no ‘mental health’ days. I think my nervous system was jacked from the time I was a child. It’s taken a lot of learning and purposeful curiosity to understand my nervous system. I’m excited to read your insights!

Thank you so much! I admire so much people working in a farm. It’s such a demanding physical work and I’m under the impression that their whole life it’s absorbed by the farm… Most of our behaviors in adulthood are shaped during childhood and is registered by our nervous system. The body doesn’t forget… It’s not until we start working on it that we actually start noticing this. It’s such a shame… Already having that curiosity for understanding your nervous system is huge! When it starts feeling safe, little by little it starts showing you and letting go the grip

Yes and unfortunately it took some major life events in the last few years for me to even think I deserved for it to be different. I am working on it one day at a a time though! :)

I totally feel you. Unfortunately, we often become aware that something’s got to change after major events. Before, we tend to minimize what’s happening or think it’s normal. Taking it one day at a time it’s great! This process requires patience and kindness for yourself ☺️
